1260 Sft {Mr Swift} /EW. from Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/R.20.2.39. You will remember that Vs. {J. Vickers} discussed with us sometime ago the possibility of making experimental patterns so that the expansion allowance would cater for producing castings both in aluminium and cast iron. Since then we have discussed the same problem with Leylands, and they say that they can manage to get a pattern which will enable them to use both materials, and, at present, are using a 'Cub' engine which was made from cast iron. On the new B.80 crankcase patterns, therefore, we should be glad if you would assume that they may be used for either cast iron or aluminium. Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
