1370 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 7/MH. {M. Huckerby} 3rd. November 1938. Messrs. Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr.H.E. Price. Dear Sirs, We are still trying to evolve a simpler means of tyre inflation for disc covered wire wheels. Unfortunately the latest Bentley experimental 16" wire wheels are not centre spoked and cannot be so, or the inner row of spokes would toggle over. If, however, the rubber tyre valve could be persuaded into the position shown on the left hand side of the attached sketch, a small slot in the edge of the disc would be all that was required. Will you please let us have your views on such a scheme. Yours faithfully. for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
