[Stamped and crossed out: Sft.{Mr Swift}] [Stamped and crossed out: Mr.] c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Y8040 BY14/G.21.10.27. PHANTOM PISTON. ---------------- Further to my memo BY6/H.22.9.27. in which I instructed 12 sets of piston rings of plain rectangular section for the Phantom chassis in place of the 'L' rings at present in use. I am informed by the Order Office that 75 rings E.76485 are in the Stores. Will you kindly arrange for those rings to be fitted, but it is essential that they are only fitted to engines with honed cylinders, the honed cylinders being of the latest reinforced type to prevent distortion. Will Sft.{Mr Swift} please let Mr. know the chassis numbers to which these piston rings have been fitted, and will Mr. please let us have a report as to their behaviour. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By [STAMP: RECEIVED OCT 23 1927 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}] | ||
