RE BUMP TEST ON REAR PART OF CHASSIS.
X.3440.

It is noticeable since we have changed over from split springs to the solid leaf springs that we are getting more failures on the chassis frame itself. Previous to changing over to the solid leaf springs we ran the rear part of the chassis 134 hours on the Bump test. During that time the only failures we had were rear springs breaking. We have since completed another 60 hours running with the solid bottom leaf springs. During that time we had the following failures on the chassis:-

We had to replace Bolts F.419 which clip the stay for the swival pin to the Cross Member on six separate occasions.

We have also broken 2 stays for swivel pins F.2406.

After 175 hours running the Torque Tube Sphere failed - one of the arms on the steel sphere broke off close up to the sphere itself.
