1170 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}2/JH. 14th February, 1938. J.N. Longley Esq., Messrs. Ferodo Ltd., Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Mr. Longley, Many thanks for your letter of the 11th inst. the 4 S.7732 facings have now come to hand and we hope to be able to try them in a Phantom III car in the course of this week. The bursting strength appears to be very satisfactory and is superior to that of Thermoid. I do not think it will be necessary to cut up one of these facings to make small test samples as Mr. Martindale has some brake lining segments also, and marked S.7732 which we presume are precisely of the same material and manufacture. Would you kindly let me know (unofficially) if you would like us to send an official order for these 4 liners as we will be pleased to do so if it will save any trouble at your end. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
