PETROL GAUGE. You will recollect that in Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M27.6.30 you asked us to alter the K.S. petrol gauge to make it suitable for a centrally vented tank with a lower filler cap. Subsequently in Rl/M1.7.30 you decided that it was not worth re-designing the tank for the advantages we should gain, and furthermore we thought that with a single line installation it would never be possible to ensure that the gauge would not be upset should positive pressure be built up in the tank when filling with fuel. However, before this latter decision was made we had taken the matter up with Messrs. Hobson the manufacturers of the gauge and a tank unit has since been evolved which has the prospect of being more successful than anything we have hitherto tried. We are sending this tank unit to you under separate cover for your examination. It is only an experimental unit and therefore cannot be considered to be up to standard either with regard to design or finish. This unit has been tested in a sealed tank completely filled with petrol coupled up with a single | ||
