- 7 - Adjustable Brake Ropes. -------------------------- After considerable discussion Design Department agreed to issue a design which will provide a works adjustment for the length of brake ropes. It was agreed that this was very badly needed. Side Steering Tube. -------------------- GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} explained that on 21-G-IV the side steering tube springs were arranged in such a way that they could come choc-o-bloc under load. This was not a design feature and he agreed to investigate further. Radiator Overflow Pipes. ------------------------- GWR. asked if the radiator overflow pipe outlets could be modified to face forward as on the Bentley. This he explained is a very great help in retaining water in the radiator. It was agreed that this should be looked into. Exhaust Manifold. ------------------ With regard to stretching of exhaust manifold studs, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} explained that austinetic steel studs would be instructed for the next test in order to overcome this trouble. The cracking of the manifold could be best overcome by a design incorporating air cooling fins on similar lines to the early 20-HP. manifold which was designed for a similar purpose and which has proved to be very satisfactory. -------------- BENTLEY. --------- Agreements were reached on the following points:- Aerolite Pistons. ------------------ It was recommended that these come on production as circumstances permit but they are to be made in the alloy used by the Aerolite Co. which is a high copper alloy and not in RR.53. | ||
