Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} GOSHAWK VALVE ROCKERS. X4226 The suggestion referred to by Mr. Royce in a recent note, that he has made with a view to obtaining quieter valve gear, is to take up the clearance between the rocker and the valve by means of oil in the rocker bearing which is made a specially slack fit and fed with oil on the bottom side. When the valve is lifted the oil is squeezed out but there should be no tapping noise caused. It is likely that the oil cushioning will be effective at low speeds when the tappets are inclined to be audible. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} FC JUL 20 1922 | ||
