S/W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}..from PN.{Mr Northey} PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT16.7.29. 18-MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} I understand from you on the 'phone to-day that the work being carried out on this car will not enable it to be delivered in London until Friday or Saturday. I have taken a private lock-up in the Garage next to the Cricklewood Shops for Friday next. As I told you I am most anxious that the appreciation of the Chassis generally shall not be handicapped by any irritating body rattles or squeaks when I am giving the prolonged demonstration to Captain Gordon Aston - you have therefore arranged that the necessary attention in this respect shall be given to the car during the next two or three days before it comes to London. I think in view of the fact that the article which will be written will be of a semi-technical nature and all sorts of intimate questions may be asked and gone into regarding new features of this chassis generally, it will be wise for one of your mechanics, such as Wyman to accompany this car instead of our employing our man, Gurner, who was on 22-SX, but who obviously has had no chance of learning much about the Chassis.
