We informed "H" that we had written to the Works yesterday and explained the position concerning the damage to the crankshaft. We explained to "H" that if we have to recondition the crankshaft the job will take longer because, after the re-grinding of N°3 pin the crankshaft will undoubtedly have to be re-nitrided. The job would take about 7 days before we could hope to have the crankshaft back from Messrs. Aubert & Duval. Therefore, if the owner is very much in need of his car, the quickest way would be to fit a new crankshaft. This would naturally increase the cost of the job. We now understand that the driver first heard the knock at Dijon. Therefore the car was driven 323 Kms. to Paris after the failure of the bearing. Sr/VA. | ||
