(sheet 2) further, and the efficiency of the axle under operating conditions is still too low, compared with the hypoid bevel type, to merit consideration. The attached list E.1/HP.29.1.37 summarises the present position of the worm drive technique. Points we learned which may be applicable in other directions are that a Schatz bearing with the inner race split instead of the outer race has been found to be an improvement.
