(2) Pivots The pivots are not affected. There are, however, indentations on the outer race of each top pivot bearing due to the heavy local pressure on the ball track. Yokes Viewed in plan, there is a twist in the vertical stem of both yokes, the direction of twist being clockwise on the N.S. and anti-clockwise on the O.S. Most of the distortion has taken place in that portion of the stem between the upper and lower pivot bearing bosses. Pivot Pins Both pins are badly distorted and cracked where the shearing action takes place level with the bottom of the pivot bore and the top edge of the bottom pivot bearing boss on the yoke. Upper Triangle Levers The O.S. levers are twisted slightly in a clockwise direction but the N.S. levers are unaffected. Lower Triangle Levers The lower triangle lever bolts G.81601 have commenced to shear at the front end where they enter the lug on the yoke. The lower triangle levers themselves are not distorted. Main Housings All the .250 diameter studs in the main housings are twisted 1° out of perpendicular, and on each side the 1 BA. stud has sheared level with the joint face of the housing. RHC.{R. H.
