REPORT ON CHASSIS 9-G-111 AFTER 2,500 MILES.

E N G I N E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

Power.
Good. Compressions even. Engine detonates slightly on pick up.

Lubrication of cylinders.
Nos. 1, 3 and 5 good. Nos. 2 and 4 on dry side. No.6. wet.

Condition of cylinder walls.
Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 are in good condition. No.5. shews light marks down side of walls.

Valves & fittings.
Valves are O.K. from outside appearance. Tappet rods have remained quiet since first setting. All push rods appear to be O.K.

Pistons.
(Pistons E.53563 with shrunk gudgeon pins and end piece to E.5356/1/2 and to LeC.2009. Bottom scraper ring made 'L' shape).
We have not heard any gudgeon pin or piston knocks. No.6 piston is over-oiling. There is a fair amount of carbon deposit on heads of pistons.

Periods.
These are very slight. They come on at 10-12 m.p.h., 18-23 m.p.h. and there is a very slight one on retard from 44-41 m.p.h.

Engine gears.
These are good. No rattles have been noticed from these.

Engine case.
There is a slight oil leak from rear of engine case, between flywheel and case.

Water pump & drive to L.O.P. E.50308 & 52010.
Water pump has functioned satisfactorily and drive is in good condition.
