DERBY.

Dear Sir,

In answer to your letter E.5/HP. of the 21st instant, I am forwarding to you, under separate cover, drawings and samples of the choke and condenser required for your ignition tests.

The inductance value of 1000 uH. was chosen for the choke for inclusion in the ignition system of an Austin 7 H.P. engine. A larger inductance would seriously affect the ignition, and a smaller inductance would be insufficient to eliminate the interference in a wireless receiver used in close proximity to the engine.

It would be preferable to increase the inductance of the choke as much as possible for the Rolls-Royce 20/25 H.P. engine, if this could be done without seriously affecting the operation of the ignition.

I regret that we have not a sample available.

Yours faithfully,

- Carter.

Major R.{Sir Henry Royce} Signals.
Superintendent S.E.E.
