EFC. AB.105. 23.2.24. X.4383 - FAULTY GOSHAWK DYNAMO NO.208. On this machine, the main brushes have been interchanged. The chief fault is that what is now the negative brush has worn down to the limit of the spring movement, and hence has caused sparking and over-excitation. Although the solder has thrown from the commutator spokes, the wires are still making contact, and if the negative brush be held on, the machine will charge. The control brush, however, is too far retarded and the output is thus excessive. The insulation of the machine was found to be O.K. the brushes have been bevelled the (now) positive, oppositely to our present standard. The control brush and commutator have suffered slightly from being overloaded. EFC/F.J.Allen. | ||
