-2- Contd. there was a considerable knock emanating from the machine which would disappear upon short circuiting the armature. The slow speed electrical performance of these EW6 machines (with the one exception stated) has been particularly good and it appears to us that you might with advantage from this point of view run with a slightly larger air gap. May we have your comments on this point, and perhaps the next machine you have occasion to send us, say No.99171 (which we returned to you a few days ago) could be arranged with a slightly larger air gap. from this point of view, that machine having been quite good in electrical performance, i.e. it has some margin over our specified requirements.
