R.R. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/156/13. COPY OF LETTER FROM:- THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO LIMITED., Aston Cross, BIRMINGHAM. 18th March.1919. Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sirs, Magnum Tyres to your order CH.641. We have your letter of the 17th, and think you must have overlooked our recent letters, as we have been trying to explain to you that at the present moment we are not in a position to make any promise for delivery. The position is that up to now we have only issued odd sets of tyres, which have been made in our Experimental Department; all tests have now been completed, and as soon as the new moulds and plant are ready for the production of this cover we shall start manufacturing, but until we are ready we are unable to produce any more for the time being and that is why we cannot deal with your order at present or give you a date when we shall be able to deliver. We would remind you that we issued the few sets to you at a very early date for the purpose of testing only, and not because we were ready to market the tyre; we hope therefore you will be good enough to accept this explanation, and you may rely on our acquainting you immediately we are in a position to supply the tyres you have on order and any further quantities that you may then be pleased to favour us with. We are Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO LTD. | ||
