We have today been carrying out tests for bonnet rattles and temperature tests. We have made an improvement in the bonnet rattles by damping the radiator movement. We are still working on this job and a full report will be sent on later. We took the opportunity today to carry out several tests for water temperature as our air temperature here has reached a maximum of 30°C. With the large tube radiator fitted the following figures are the results of the tests :- Air Temp. M.P.H. Water Temp. 29.2 60 88 29.5 70 94 BONNET CLOSED. 29.7 80 100 29.2 60 88 29.75 70 91 BONNET SHUTTERS 30 80 95 OPEN. These figures are not final as we are busily changing the shutters round to get the air out instead of in. It will be noted that at 80 MPH. we are on the boiling point with this radiator. We have not made any definite improvement of the steering by altering the degree of the lean of the pivots and more load upon the cross steering tube. We have run into the trouble of petrol boiling by the fitting of the petrol pipe to the A.C. petrol pump along the engine casing. We shall have to remove the piping to the inside of the chassis frame to overcome this trouble. (Sgd.) G.E.Hancock. | ||
