20HP. HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS ON REAR AXLE. X235 X5520 X7520

With reference to the difficulty of utilising a spring gland in this position on the 20HP., we send herewith N. sch. 2397. shewing a proposal for mounting the shock damper in the same way as on EAC.7. If this is done, and the gland is slightly shortened compared with the Phantom, we think we can give sufficient clearance on either side.

It will be noticed that the shock damper body is different to the present Phantom, though it is the same as that proposed for EAC.7. except for the position of the filler boss.

For the purposes of experiment an EAC.7. body casting could be used.

We suggest that a set should be rigged up to this scheme for test as soon as possible.
