(2) (3) GOSHAWK SWITCH. X4081 Sales wish now to adopt our suggestion of a year ago and to make the switchbox on the instrument board enter the board from the rear and have a dummy flange in front. This has the distinct advantage of enabling the wiring to be done at Derby and never disturbed. This modification entails very slight alterations. Could we do this on the next series? (4) GOSHAWK CHASSIS PRINT. The various requirements of Sales in connection with the chassis print were considered, and we shall in a day or so send BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} full information to enable him to carry on. (5) 40/50 CHASSIS CLEARANCES. X4302 Boxes and wheels carried in wells on the running boards should not project through the latter more than 2 1/2", that is to say, they must have 2" more ground clearance than the engine fly-wheel guard, which is 10" above the ground. This is given in the coachwork memoranda, third edition 1920, page 14, item 31. (6) 20.HP. CHASSIS TEMPLATES. X4567 Sales are in need of templates for testing the rear axle and wing clearances on the Goshawk. Will Derby please set out templates on the revised 40/50 type which are easily.port-able. The old type as used on the 40/50 are comparatively use-less. We do not think a scheme from WW. is necessary. (7) GOSHAWK - SPARE WHEEL ON RUNNING BOARD. X4085 It was suggested when designing this fixture that should there be any objection to the dirty interior of the wire wheel hub being exposed, we could cover this with a sheet metal plate. Sales now ask if this can be done. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
