New procedures for work requisitions and order numbers for the Millwrights Department.

To All Officials, Superintendents & Foremen. MILLWRIGHTS DEPARTMENT. As from 9.8.37 no work may be booked on bonus cards to any of the following order numbers by any department (except by Millwrights who have Millwrights Check Numbers). 711 801 813 520 715 808 814 547 718 809 815 548 719 810 816 811 827 All the fifty-four thousand eight hundred order numbers are abolished. Requisitions on Millwrights. Before any work, however small, is done by any Millwright (other than routine maintenance such as oiling line shaft bearings) a requisition must be made out by the department requiring the work, on the appropriate form and one of the above order numbers quoted. The requisition forms are as follows :- Form Colour Estimated cost of work Authority A White Less than 30/- Shop Foreman. B Yellow 30/- to £10. Superintendent. £10 to £50. Works Manager. C Blue Over £50. (Assistant General (Works Manager. A requisition on Form 'A', after being signed by the Shop Foreman, is handed to the Foreman Millwright and the work proceeds. With a requisition on either form 'B' or 'C' the procedure is as follows :- (a) It is made out and signed by the Shop Foreman. (b) Approved and signed by the necessary authority as stated on the form. (c) Passed to the Equipment Department who fill in the estimated cost and give it their approval. (d) Passed back to the authority stated on the form for final approval and consideration of the cost. (e) Passed to the Millwrights Department who, after receipt of any necessary drawings, together with a list of the parts required from the Equipment Dept., approve the estimate and then carry out the work. Subsequent Procedure. All work in connection with Forms 'B' and 'C' will be costed and monthly a statement submitted to Superintendents showing the cost of Millwrights work carried out in their Department. | ||
