X.3806 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DAL/M1.9.27. CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION. We send herewith N.sch.2460 giving preliminary information about the drip plugs required for the first experiment of the Phantom. We have shewn connections through the two drip plugs in order that Derby may have an idea of what they are like, but these drgs. are not intended to be designs. If we should be compelled to manufacture the drip plugs ourselves, as we have previously suggested, we think the information should be obtained from the Bijur Co. The information as to numbers of drops, hole and pin size etc, is not official from the Bijur Co. but is obtained from our files, and as they are rather old and may be inaccurate, we are asking Mr. Bijur to send us up-to-date information. We believe however that as given it is substantially correct. With regard to the list of plugs for the first experiment we have based it on the American chassis, but our chassis is not exactly the same, and it will probably be necessary to alter the drip plugs sizes here and there. We suggest that the first minimum order, supposing that we decide to order plugs from America, should be 3 doz. No.1. and 1 doz. of each of the other sizes. This would give us an opportunity of varying the lubrication to each point if it is found desirable. DAL | ||
