X4221 We have carried out this test on the engine which was fitted to the chassis when it was at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. The engine was bolted to a bed plate and the flywheel locked. The crankshaft was fitted into the crankcase with its standard bearings - no connecting rods were fitted. A lever was fitted to the serrations on the front end of the crankshaft.
