To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} x740 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.16/KW. 26.6.34. Burgess' Car 27-RY. The above car is coming to the Works on Thursday 28th inst. I had asked for this car to come back for 2 days, so that we can see if the modification recently made to production dampers will overcome complaints which are now made concerning our shock damper system. I have made no promises of any great improvement to Mrs. Burgess, but merely that we now think we have a springing compromise which is more suitable for her requirements. As I may not have returned from London when this car arrives we should like you to try the car and then get Brock to fit the latest modifications to the dampers, namely, grooves in the pistons and .020" dia. clearance for the valve damping disc. I shall be back at the Works on Friday and should like to try the car before it leaves. The rear axle on this car is a very bad example for noise when hot. Although there has up to now been no complaint we should like you to listen to it and change it if you consider it advisable. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/I.A.Leslie. | ||
