BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to SS.{S. Smith} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL SS.{S. Smith} RADIATOR SHUTTERS. x 7250 x 5250 x 3499. We send you herewith LeC. 2750., shewing a scheme for thermostatically operating the radiator shutters on SS.{S. Smith} A latch is provided for keeping the shutters open when required, say for using the starting handle, or should the bellows fail. Mr. Royce would like you to produce a scheme on these lines for the 20HP. chassis, using a bellows of 1 3/4" outside dia. instead of 2", and a 2 bolter instead of a 4 bolter flange on the top water pipe connection. It should be remarked that in this scheme LeC. 2750. the upper screwed coupling for the flexible water joint between the head and the radiator has been deleted for the sake of simplicity and weight saving. It is intended that the aluminium connection shewn shall be pulled off the short studs in the flange joining to radiator, utilising the flexibility of the rubber joint when it is required to dismantle this connection for removing the cylinder head.
