WEIR TYPE INDUCTION PIPES. X8070

We have made further tests with the two weir type induction pipes on an EAC.14 and obtained good results. We understand these pipes were intended as test models for the EAC.10, the weir being designed to compensate for the short distance between the carburetter and the manifold. This condition the design seems to have successfully fulfilled.

Of the two manifolds tested i.e. the single piece one and the built up one - the single piece type gave the better results. Looking at the interior contours of these two pipes we find they differ considerably - see sketch - the one giving the good results conforming more to the successful induction system

on the F.XI. The main difference we note is that the connecting pipe from the carburetter to the manifold maintains its circular section until level with the top of the distributing manifold. the section then steadily changes to the slot. contd :i
