| + 212. To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}6/MH.{M. Huckerby}26.11.37. RE BENTLEY 10" THERMOID FACED CLUTCH. Borg & Beck advise me by 'phone that they can commence deliveries of the 142 assemblies on order during the week commencing Nov. 29th., and that these will be fitted with the new Black spring selected to between 160-165 lbs. (The "ideal" poundage is 150-155 lbs., but it has been decided to fit springs tested at 10 lbs. more to allow for the "settling down" which experience indicates does actually exist, but we are investigating this matter further). Meanwhile it will be in order to continue to fit assemblies with springs of not under 150 lbs. or 1350 lbs. total. (handwritten) BROWN We recommend that Thermoid faced plates be fitted on production as soon as supplies arrive, (either the new order for 142 or the 45 being sent to-day for conversion). Will Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} please order 25 extra Thermoid faced 10" plates to deal with customers complaints, and the plates removed can be returned to Borg & Beck for conversion to Thermoid so as to maintain a small service stock.
