Gearbox trouble and damaged parts in an Austin 8 HP - 1939 Model.

Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} Austin 8 HP - 1939 Model. We have recently had trouble with the above car, at a total mileage of 18,000 miles. The gearbox had become noisy and continually jumped out of the gears. The following parts were found damaged :- The spacing washers had broken away from the 3rd motion shaft thus allowing the cones and gears to move out of position.
