New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Steering. We recommend that some information should be circularised to the people to whom Depot Instruction Sheets are sent, in regard to the above, advising them to expect features different from preceding models, such as free movement of wheel, "binding" and tackiness, also emphasising the importance of worm and nut lubrication. It has been pointed out by the Works Technical Officials that steerings should not be condemned which have not more than 3/4" 'slack' on the periphery of the steering wheel, i.e. made up of limits of slack nut and worm etc. We may say that this matter has already been queried at Coachbuilders, dealing with final complete car deliveries, and we have explained the position verbally. We consider it important, therefore, that officials, Depots, visiting inspectors, etc. should be fully 'au fait' with the position. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 30 Sep 1926 840 | ||
