To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. c. to CJ. c. to E, c. to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EH4/LG31.3.19 X.3429 - RE SHORT CONNECTING RODS ON 40/50 CHASSIS [handwritten: X3400P.] The short connecting rods on the 40/50 chassis are undoubtedly the best thing we have ever tried for preventing piston knocks. If the car is started up dead cold, there is a slight suspicion of a knock but nothing to be compared with what we get with the standard rods. We have them fitted on 49-GB I have given this car a good long run and found that it was in every way excellent. One could not appreciate the least disadvantage in the shorter pipes. [handwritten above: rods] We are getting more of these rods made so that we can fit them on to any cars which are doing a lot of running. We suggest that it would be a good point to see that the proportion for the length of rdd and the piston on the little car is similar to what these rods are on the 40/50 H.P. chassis . EH. | ||
