re Bentley Starter Motor.

We send you herewith drawing:-

LeC.3892 showing the Bentley starter motor arranged with the reduction gear making the overall ratio 17.4 to 1 as against 9.16 to 1.

The starter motor and drive can be fitted to an existing crankcase and clutch casing, the only slight alteration being the reaming out for a dowel bush in the clutch casing.

With this scheme we find that we must use the small starter motor as now fitted, to ensure that we get sufficient space between the commutator end of the starter motor and the exhaust expansion box.

Our drawing shows the bijur pinion with the increased friction clutch to RR. Sch.417.

This may or may not be a necessity but the scheme is such that either this or the present one can be fitted.
