Dear Sirs:-

In reply to your letter of the 21st inst: we are aware that the co-efficient of friction of "Halo" material is reduced when it becomes hot, but we were not aware that it can be reduced to such an extent as to render the braking dangerously ineffective.

This defect has not been mentioned by Messrs. Bentley Motors Ltd, who have now considerable experience with "Halo" material. In the account given by Mr. W.O.Bentley of Measuring Stopping Distance, published in "THE AUTOCAR" of the 30th November, the New Type of Brake Lining referred to is "HALO". We are also informed that in 15,000 miles running of their test car, only three slight adjustments have been made, and that the wear is so far negligible.

The braking area of their four wheel system is 190 sq.ins. We gather that the area of your brakes is about 150 sq.ins.

Possibly the defect you have experienced can be overcome by the introduction of brass wire. If you would like a set of shoes so made we shall be pleased to send them along.

Yours faithfully,

"SCANDINAVIA" BELTING LTD.

T.E.Dalmaine.

Director.
