I am arranging that the piston should be held together with long screws with cheese heads for the spring, thus : [Diagram 1] Labels: Spring washer Lock nut. Tapped in Conical. Plain parallel screw would do if we could rely on it stopping the right distance or - [Diagram 3] Labels: 1/4 1 or 2 B.A. They are all secured by the same kind of check nut and spring washer. Naturally the parallel one is cheap and quite good except for stopping correctly. The bore for the head might be larger than for spring so that when screwed as far as possible the end would not be too far through the nut. R. {Sir Henry Royce} | ||
