Dear Sirs,

Referring to your letter of the 9th inst. reference ECM/EH. in which you point out that now you are having to put in hand the new mould for the lid {A. J. Lidsey} for the RR.5. type batteries (40/50 type), you would like to know whether we would prefer to continue with the plug which has been so far used as standard on the RR.5. type battery, namely, the type of plug which is secured by making a quarter of the turn instead of having to screw the plug home, or whether we would prefer to make the screwed type plug used on the 20 HP. X.L.S. type battery standard for both chassis, - we are of the opinion that the latter type plug is most suitable for our requirements, in as much as it obviously calls for a definite screwing up, whereas the original 40/50 type plug can be dropped into its socket and apparently put in position, although it has not been turned sufficiently far to lock it and prevent it shaking out.

Will you therefore kindly arrange to make the change and deliver in the near future RR.5. type batteries with the same type of screwed plug as you already fit to the X.L.S. type battery.

Yours faithfully,

TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ENGINEER.
FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED.
