Dear Sirs, Reverting to your letter of the 31st May, concerning a set of green painted wheels removed from a Phantom vehicle which has been used on one of your French tests. The wheels have been examined, and four of them have a number of loose and in some cases broken spokes. One wheel has a rim which has been badly damaged as a result of impact. All four wheels indicate having been run with the tyres in a very slack condition, and it is to this fact that we attribute the loose spokes. The fourth wheel which does not show any indication of tyre under inflation has no apparent defect, it is well tensioned and there are no loose or broken spokes. We would suggest that one wheel be rebuilt with a new rim, spokes and nipples and black enamelled at £2.1.3d. nett, three wheels generally overhauled, new spokes fitted where necessary, trued and re-enamelled at 15/- each, and the fifth stripped and black enamelled at 10s.6d.
