Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Wmr. Ex/IN. X 3499 Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}5/1/19.6.30. X. 7830 X. 7120 X. 4484 C 3499 We wired you yesterday asking if you could give us an approximate date for the delivery of the chassis of 26-EX. We want to use this car for a special purpose at the end of July and therefore shall want the chassis at least a fortnight before, but to be on the safe side 3 weeks before. The issue is that if it is going to be impossible to get the complete car by that date we do not want to paint it for the purpose originally intended. It is our impression that the untarnishable finish of chromium plating is so much more powerful in its effect upon the entire colour scheme that the number of plated and highly polished parts on a car with this finish has to be reduced, and large areas avoided. We would therefore like to be able to have a dull finish, either dull chromium, or dull stainless steel on the radiator shutters. We thought that the polished shutters of 18-EX made the front of the car look too "flashy" and lost some of its dignity. Will you please supply to Barkers a set of fittings for attaching the rear trunk to the chassis frame. These can be of steel as they will be painted.
