To OY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hsl/LG12. 2. 27. PHANTOM STEERING. Y3614 We attach herewith a copy of a report we have received from our Mr. Parsons at the Paris Depot. I think you can take it that Ps. is quite unprejudiced and gives his honest opinion of the car. As regards your difficulties with steerings. We are not surprised that you are having trouble. We warned you of the difficulties in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG5.3.26. We are sure that the trouble you are having is due to imperfect bedding. The question of temperature only affects it inasmuch as it lowers the viscosity of the oil. In the last two or three years we have put in some extensive work on steering gears. The steerings on our cars which have been turned out on production are now excellent. We are not able to produce this quality of steering easy - even after the worm has been accurately ground, a certain amount of hand lapping has to be done. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
