X 11 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KT. 2.8.33. TIMING GEAR RATTLES - PROGRAMME OF EXPERIMENTS. Further to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/KT.17.7.33. and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KT.20.7.33. We should like to confine the Textolite experiments to B.5. unit to start with, but we are anxious to test the balanced cam and brake on B.1. unit before we alter this for Textolite gears. We are not losing interest in Textolite gears, but we feel we shall have to do an enormous amount of running before we can possibly release them for production, and if the brake or balanced cam should prove successful in suppressing the amount of rattle which is worrying production, they can be adopted almost immediately. As soon as we have tested out the brake and the balanced cam on B.1. unit we will carry on with the Textolite gears. We have asked for the balanced cam on B.5. unit in our Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KT.20.7.33. If only one set is available, however, we should prefer it on B.1. unit as instructed in this note. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
