X4226 To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to Wpr. c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EFC. E2/G25.1.21. x.4226. RE "GOSHAWK 11" VALVE SPRINGS. We send you herewith drawing No. Lec.1337 giving the proportions and data for the above. With these springs the valve gear will not jump before the engine has reached a speed of 3,300 r.p.m. Actually the jumping should start at a somewhat higher speed, owing to the effective valve spring pressure being a little more than that calculated for, due to the cam lifting and compressing the springs.
