Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your letter of Nov. 16th.

We are perfectly willing to try one of your pistons with .001" less clearance on the major axis. We agree with you that if we can get away with this clearance, there will be less tendency for cold knocking. We must say that we had no difficulty with the last set of pistons you sent us with regard to any tendency to tighten up. The bedding was very good.

We should prefer not to complicate the question of clearance by incorporating it with the R.R. alloy, but we do not think it will be worth making a separate set of pistons to prove the point. We presume you will send us the pistons in RR. alloy with the increased dimension.
