STEERING WOBBLES. X457 X235

CJ. has passed on to us a letter in which you point out the faults with the steering fitted to your Phantom car.

During the last year Mr. Royce has given considerable thought to the steering on the Phantom and numerous changes in design have been experimented with and tested on Continental roads. As a result, the steerings which are now being fitted to the new PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I cars are a very great improvement over the steering on your car or any previous R-R steering. With the new steering, the road shocks transmitted to the driver through the steering wheel have been reduced by approximately 70%. The degree of irreversibility of the steering is the maximum which can be used and still retain other desirable features such as - self-centering and lightness.

We are certain that when you have tried a car fitted with the new steering you will at once appreciate the improvement which has been made.

We do not claim however that the new steering eliminates high speed steering wobbles. The problem of high speed steering wobbles has been investigated very thoroughly by us. It is because we believe we know more about this problem than other makers that we do not make any rash claims of having eliminated the fault. We have tried and examined numerous other makes of car - we do not know of any make which is entirely immune from this fault.
