RR 755 REVISED (10H) (DE444 6-10-26) BM. X. 7060 COMPLETED 20.10.26 STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS. Date 24.9.26 Description of Parts. SOLID KEY TYPE BOTTOM TAPPETS. SGT X No. 8060/7060 Drawing No. E.7 4453/4 Part E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 70317 List E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 71155 Origin. To produce a more consistent quiet tappet. The present tappets are difficult to get quiet. Experimental Test Report. With the present std. bottom tappets 80% of the engines have to be dismantled to quieten the tappets. With the new type, 3 sets have been made and fitted to production cars. T.D. report all were quiet. We do not say all new tappets will be quiet but the design lends itself to more consistent quietness and if 50% of these are quiet there will be a big saving in time. It is necessary to dismantle the whole of induction side of engine to quieten tappets. Road Test Report. A set of these tappets were fitted to 12-EX and ran 10,000 miles in France. With the exception of No. 1 and 2 which became noisy through wear or roller pin, they were generally quieter. Weight of Old Part. Cost of Old Part. £10.16.0 Weight of New Part. Cost of New Part. £10.16.0d. Difference per Car. £ Nil. Signature from Cost Dept. that above is correct. My/Rb.{R.
