WRAITH PROPELLOR SHAFT.

In view of the trouble on experimental cars due to the needles in the universal joints digging into the cracks, and the decision to try experimentally the next size larger Hardy Spicer joint, we have, at Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s request, made the following experiment.

Plasticine was added to the rear joint on 24.G.VI to occupy the same room as the bigger joint, i.e coupling flange was increased to 4.500 diameter by adding weight to the back of the car. It was pulled down on to the buffers after which several get-aways were made at full throttle in first gear. The plasticine never touched the battery cross member. There is, therefore, room for the 1350 type joint.

As soon as the drawings are finished we will obtain from Hardy Spicer three joints for test on experimental cars to make sure that no vibrations come up due to the increased inertia of the joint.
