Description of Parts.
SOLID POLE PIECES FOR 20 HP. DYNAMO.
Origin.
To lessen the cost of production.
Experimental Test Report. Road Test Report.
Some time ago we made care-ful tests of an otherwise standard 20 HP. dynamo, but with laminated pole pieces instead of solid pole pieces, and we found no indication of any deleterious effect on the performance of either output curve, heating, or noise. There appears no reason why the machine should not be produced with solid pole pieces - the 40/50 HP. dynamo is being so produced - we have obtained information from the Estimating Dept. that solid pole pieces would result in the saving of 6/4d. per chassis. We therefore recommend this item for standardisation.
