BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} C. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Y5005. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.1/MA.31.12.31. 25 HP. REAR ENGINE FEET. The spring plates F.35578 should not be fitted for future production. 18-G-IV car has done 15,000 miles without these plates. The bolts K.310 holding the spring plates to F.57070/1 should be omitted. For production of new material the bosses at present securing the spring plates on F.57070/1 and E.55864/5 should be omitted. The pressed steel cup for the diabalo rubber F.57077 should replace the forging F.57078. Diabalo Rubber F.58133. With the present drawing limits these rubbers completely fill the space between the cups when checked for load. In consequence a false reading is obtained. In order to prevent this the drawing limits should be altered to .100" compression for 150 + 25 lbs. The present limit is .150 compression for 200 lbs. Dunlop and Goodrich rubbers have been tested. The Dunlops come within the new limits, but the Goodrich are too soft. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/I.A. Leslie. | ||
