X4217 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}6/T30.4.34 6 CYLINDER TERRAPLANE. Here are the impressions after a run of about 60 miles of various outstanding points on the above car. The principle good feature is the result that has been obtained of absorbing engine vibrations by means of really flexible mounting. I do not think, judging by the feel of the gear lever, the engine itself is a particularly smooth one. Absence of booming is another good point - probably due to isolating the power unit. I think the steering is very good - it is reasonably light, selective, and self-centering, and withal very free from "liveliness" and "joggling" of the steering wheel. The front of the car is very steady and free from "jellying" Acceleration and power is very good. The speedometer is obviously reading high. Generally speaking the car is not very controllable, and it is difficult to imagine that the suspension of this car would please anybody, particularly to ride in the back seats. The body is not free from wind noises - a particularly irritating one is from the nearside of the windscreen which does not close properly. [Signature] | ||
