DATE 19th May. 1927 E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Fowler Clark, Esq., C/O.{Mr Oldham} Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd, DERBY. Dear Mr. Fowler Clark, I should like to know how the pinion which looks like a Bendix pinion is engaged on the 20 H.P. Rolls-Royce Car. If you are not at liberty to give me this information, just say so frankly and I shall not, of course, be offended. The pinion I refer to looks like a Bendix pinion on the outside and has a brass or bronze bush without any screw thread. I presume there is a screwed inertia member mounted behind the pinion, but I should like to know. I still remember with great pleasure the evening I spent with you at your home, when you showed me some very interesting experiments with electrical discharges; and the model automatic railway. With kind regards, I remain, Yours sincerely, William H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Glaser. | ||
