BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4295 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn7/H7.9.22. Re. 40/50 chassis Wiring and Ignition Plugs. X.1812 X.4295 X.1819. With reference to your memo. BY4/Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8.22, we are testing a number of K.L.G. plugs in question on chassis on test and on cars running about in the Test Dept. also on the Unit test bed and on the Dynamometer, prior to sending these plugs out on cars for delivery, as we do not consider that these K.L.G. plugs have been sufficiently tested to warrent our putting them on chassis for delivery, especially in view of Mr. Hives memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG19.8.22, combined with the fact that EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} is of the opinion that they will be inclined to over-oil on the 40/50 chassis. Consequently, owing to the fact that we are unable to obtain Mercury plugs, we are sending chassis away with the Lodge plugs in both ignitions. We hope in a week's time to issue definite report on these plugs. In the meantime we have recommended to both the Repair Dept. and to Cricklewood that these plugs should not be sent out on customer's cars. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
