TO C.G-D.L. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to - [text obscured by strikethrough] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ppR. [text obscured by strikethrough] ORIGINAL R2/M16.11.25. re. STEERING WHEELS, & SEATS. X8430 X8830 As standard, I do not agree to any other dimensions than our 9" under the wheel to the compressed seat, and an 18" wheel. If anyone wants less let them pack up the cushion, get a thicker cushion, or an additional one, but if the seats are too high nothing can be done - (a frequent fault.) I do not believe drivers cannot see unless they loll in the seats or are in some way abnormal. I suggest for trial we make a steering wheel with a thinner rim which might be of circular section, and also delete the central top spoke, but to make such a wheel thoroughly strong it will be necessary to have a steel tube inside the rim.
