Messrs. Thos. Howse Ltd, of Smethwick claim to have a special Japan, oil-proof, water-proof, and petrol-proof, in addition to being Heat-proof, which can be supplied in either Aluminium, Black or Grey finish, and will stand actual flame for a considerable time without being affected.

Herewith a sample of such Japan in Black - which you may care to try out on our existing manufactures etc.

As far as application is concerned, they tell us you merely apply same by means of brush, and there is no occasion to treat the metal in any way before such application. They generally find one coat sufficient, but there is, of course no objection to put two or more, provided you give ample time for the successive coats to become thoroughly dry.

ROY.{Sir Henry Royce}

ENCLOSURE. Sample tin of Japan
